Fishing Charters
If you love to fish, there are few places in the world that offer as many different world famous rivers and fishing opportunities as North Central Idaho and Scotlyn Ranch is smack dab in the middle of all of them. From snow fed mountain creeks to the mighty Columbia River, we have it all within an hour or so drive from the ranch, many are closer. If you want to experience the ultimate river experience, please take a look at our Five Rivers in Five Days Package. If you want to fish and bird hunt, please see our Fins and Feathers Packages. If you prefer to stay a la carte, you can add any of these adventures to your vacation and create your own customized vacation.
The Lochsa, Selway, and Clearwater rivers are to our east and the Salmon and Snake rivers are to our west and south. The Columbia is to the northwest and mountain streams can be found in the Gospels and Seven Devils mountain ranges a short distance from the ranch.
If you read our personal history , you will already know that I grew up in Texas and Jaclyn and I lived in the Caribbean for a number of years. We have done a lot of deep sea fishing for Marlin, Wahoo, Tuna, and Mahi, I have fished the coast of Texas for Redfish, and caught untold numbers of bass, trout, and crappie in the lakes and rivers of Texas. When I was eight years old I got on the front page of the Lake Eufaula newspaper for catching 46 crappie in a single afternoon of fishing in Oklahoma with my Grandparents. Fishing anywhere is a special experience, but I can tell you first hand that the rivers and canyons of Idaho have a very special place in my heart. Floating down the Selway fly fishing for cutthroat trout surrounded by forests and seemingly being in the middle of nowhere, or heading out on the Salmon River hoping for an 8-10 foot long prehistoric sturgeon is nearly a religious experience (they can get up to 12 feet long!!!). It really doesn’t matter if you are an ameteur fisherman coming for an enjoyable experience or an avid fisherman coming on a mission, the beauty, serenity, and scenery available here is truly second to none… and the fishing is incredible!
Our ranch itself has a stocked trout pond which offers hours of entertainment for fishing, kayaking, paddleboat, paddle board, and swimming, and we also have 6.5 miles of creeks that can be fished, but with so many world famous rivers a short drive away with some of the world’s best fishing, if you are serious about fishing, we highly recommend taking an excursion with one of our outfitter partners. Most offer a choice between fly fishing and spin cast fishing, so whatever your desire or comfort is, they can accommodate. The hospitality business and outfitters and guides is a close knit community here in North Central Idaho. We won’t send you off with some group that we don’t know. In most cases these outfitters are personal friends of ours and we have experienced all of these trips ourselves before we would recommend them to you.
